Changan launched the Hunter K70 range-extended off-road pickup on October 23, starting at RMB 192,900. The model has a 43.47 kWh battery, 150 km NEDC electric range and 897 km combined range.

D1EV reported that Changan launched the Hunter K70 on October 23, offering two standard-bed, four-wheel-drive large-battery variants priced at RMB 192,900 and RMB 207,900. Changan also launched the Hunter K70 Fliggy Edition, described as a range-extended off-road camper pickup, at RMB 249,800.

The two Hunter K70 trims are the Navigator and Flagship versions. Buyers can get five launch incentives including an RMB 8,000 cash discount, an RMB 10,000 trade-in subsidy, a lifetime warranty for the battery, electric drive and range-extender system, and a free 7 kW charging pile.

For the Fliggy Edition, Changan is also offering a Tmall Auto promotion of RMB 1,000 deducted from RMB 5,000 in car purchase cash benefits, plus a RMB 5,000 Fliggy travel gift package.

The Hunter K70 is positioned as a range-extended off-road pickup. It has a cargo box measuring 1,600 × 1,595 × 500 mm and a stated cargo volume of 1,276 L. Changan said the tailgate uses a multifunction design with a folding step, and the cargo bed has a factory anti-corrosion protective layer.

Powertrain, range and off-road specs

The pickup uses front and rear dual motors with combined maximum power of 260 kW and peak torque of 559 N·m. It also features what Changan described as the pickup segment's first electric-drive two-speed axle. In low-speed four-wheel-drive mode, wheel-end speed ratio is tripled.

Changan listed an approach angle of 38 degrees, a departure angle of 28 degrees, minimum ground clearance of 245 mm, and wading depth of 650 mm. The vehicle uses LT285/70 R17 all-terrain tires and has a factory-rated towing capacity of 2.5 tons.

The Hunter K70 offers 10 driving modes covering mountain, sand, snow, mud and wading conditions. It also includes an Off-Road assistance display that shows altitude, longitude and latitude, body angle and differential lock information in real time.

Its NEDC battery range is 150 km, while combined range is 897 km. Changan said that based on 300 km of travel per day, that would cover a two-day, one-night outdoor trip without recharging or refueling.

Battery and power export

The Hunter K70 carries a 43.47 kWh CATL battery and uses a 2.0T Blue Whale range extender. Changan said total stored energy with a full tank and full charge reaches 239 kWh.

The model supports 30 kW external discharge, which Changan described as an industry first, for equipment such as site lighting, drones, medical gear, communications devices and work tools. Inside the bed, it also has dual 220 V discharge panels rated at 3.3 kW for uses such as boiling water, cooking and entertainment.

The 30 kW and 3.3 kW discharge functions can operate at the same time, allowing high-power work equipment and lower-power household appliances to run together.

Safety and structure

The battery pack comes from CATL and Changan listed five protective features: a cage-style anti-collision battery structure, all-weather thermal management temperature control, zero thermal propagation, a high-strength rolled steel battery case, and an IP68 sealing rating.

The Hunter K70 uses a body-on-frame structure and a high-strength off-road body. In a collision, the vehicle automatically unlocks the doors and cuts off the fuel line. It also comes with six airbags.

Fliggy camper version

The Hunter K70 Fliggy Edition uses an aviation-grade all-aluminum camper box designed to be lightweight and removable. It includes a 2 m × 1.7 m sliding front bed and a 1.6 m × 0.6 m folding small bed, with space for three to four people to rest.

It also has a folding dining table, folding sink, outdoor tarp, a 70 L fresh water tank and a shower kit.
