CnEVPost reported that BYD launched the third-generation Qin Plus DM-i in China on October 27, with limited-time prices from RMB 76,900 to RMB 97,900. The plug-in hybrid sedan gets a larger body, up to 220 km of CLTC electric range, and optional LiDAR.
The model went on sale in three variants, with official guide prices from RMB 79,900 to RMB 100,900. The 140-km Leading variant is listed at RMB 79,900, or RMB 76,900 for a limited time; the 220-km Beyond variant at RMB 90,900, or RMB 87,900; and the 220-km Excellence variant at RMB 100,900, or RMB 97,900.
The third-generation Qin Plus DM-i keeps BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology and raises maximum CLTC electric range to 220 km from 210 km in the previous generation.
The car measures 4,840 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,498 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm. Compared with the previous generation, that is an increase of 60 mm in length, 63 mm in width, 17 mm in height and 82 mm in wheelbase.
The exterior has a redesigned front end and a fastback profile while keeping the Qin family's full-width taillights inspired by Chinese knots. BYD also added an Island Blue paint option.
The powertrain combines a 1.5-liter engine and an electric motor with maximum outputs of 74 kW and 120 kW, respectively. Battery options are 16.2-kWh and 24.3-kWh lithium iron phosphate packs, corresponding to CLTC electric ranges of 140 km and 220 km, and charging from 30% to 80% takes as little as 20 minutes.
BYD says the sedan offers a combined range of up to 2,290 km with a full tank and fully charged battery, and fuel consumption as low as 2.58 liters per 100 km under the NEDC cycle when the battery is depleted.
Cabin and driver assistance
The cabin uses the DiLink 150 system, with an 8.8-inch instrument display and either a 10.1-inch or 12.8-inch central touchscreen. Additional storage and redesigned seats are intended to improve everyday usability.
The optional LiDAR-equipped God's Eye B system supports city navigation on autopilot, highway and expressway navigation assistance, and multiple intelligent parking functions.
The Qin Plus is the entry-level product line in BYD's Qin family and is offered in both battery electric and plug-in hybrid versions. The October 27 launch covers the DM-i plug-in hybrid, while the third-generation battery electric version previously appeared in regulatory filings.
The Qin family also includes the Qin L and the higher-positioned Qin Max, which launched in August.
Qin family sales
Qin family sales totaled 23,472 vehicles in September, down 65.27% year-on-year but up 7.54% from August. In the first nine months of 2026, cumulative Qin family sales reached 207,589 vehicles, down 54.71% year-on-year.
