Denza N9 EV Appears in MIIT Filing With 890 kW and Up to 3,180 kg

3 min read

Denza's all-electric N9 has appeared in a Chinese regulatory filing with an 890 kW tri-motor all-wheel-drive system and five-seat and six-seat layouts. The filing also shows curb weights of 3,105 kg and 3,180 kg, but does not disclose battery capacity, range or charging specifications.

CnEVPost reported and CarNewsChina reported that an all-electric version of BYD premium brand Denza's N9 has appeared in China's latest regulatory filing. The large SUV is listed in batch 413 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's new vehicle catalog for public comment, with the comment period running from November 4 to November 10.

Inclusion in the catalog is a regulatory step before a vehicle can go on sale and does not mean it has received final approval.

The Denza N9 EV is listed with a tri-motor all-wheel-drive system producing a combined peak output of 890 kW. The front motor delivers 270 kW, while the rear left and rear right motors each deliver 310 kW. The filing also lists an aggregate rated output of 250 kW and a top speed of 240 km/h.

The three motors are permanent magnet synchronous units. The front motor is identified as TZ226QYA, and the two rear motors are TZ226XYB.

Two model codes appear in the filing: QCJ6530ABBEV1 and QCJ6530ABBEV2. Both have the same dimensions, seating layouts and motor outputs. The SUV measures 5,270 mm long, 2,030 mm wide and 1,830 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. Both five-seat and six-seat layouts are listed.

The two versions use different braking-system configurations. QCJ6530ABBEV1 uses FinDreams' integrated power brake system, while QCJ6530ABBEV2 uses Bosch BWA and ESP hardware. Bosch Automotive Products (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. is listed as the supplier for the Bosch configuration.

Battery, weight and exterior details

The N9 EV uses a lithium iron phosphate battery. Battery cells are supplied by Guangxi ASEAN FinDreams Battery Co., Ltd., and pack assembly is handled by Shenzhen BYD Auto Industry Co., Ltd.

The filing does not disclose battery capacity, pack mass, CLTC range or charging specifications.

Certified curb weights are listed at 3,105 kg and 3,180 kg, with a gross vehicle weight of 3,760 kg.

Images in the filing show a closed front fascia, roof-mounted LiDAR and side cameras. A panoramic glass roof and power side steps are standard. Optional equipment includes a two-tone body, black exterior trim and 22-inch forged wheels.

CarNewsChina said the tri-motor setup is associated with BYD's e3 architecture, also used in the Denza Z9 GT. It added that BYD has identified platform functions including Compass U-Turn, rear-steer parking and high-speed tyre-blowout stability control, but the N9 EV filing does not confirm which of those functions will be available on the production SUV.

Current N9 lineup

Denza first launched the N9 in March 2025, entering the large luxury SUV segment with the flagship model as a six-seat plug-in hybrid.

On May 18, Denza launched the N9 flash charging edition with a starting price of RMB 409,800. That version features BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology.

The plug-in hybrid has a 75.3 kWh battery that delivers a CLTC electric range of 420 km. Denza said at the time that charging from 10% to 97% takes 9 minutes.

The in-market N9 PHEV currently sells for RMB 389,800 to RMB 469,800.
