BYD Leads China EV Surge as Exports Rewire Market

BYD topped China’s September 2026 passenger car wholesale rankings with 455,113 vehicles and a 17.9% share, while new-energy vehicle penetration hit a record 67.0%. At the same time, BYD’s global push accelerated, led by 209,394 exports to Brazil in January-August, and Huawei-backed AITO’s M6 smart SUV surpassed 60,000 deliveries, underscoring how Chinese EV brands are gaining strength at home and abroad.
